On April 10th, the stock price of Boeing (BA. N) fell 2.5% to its lowest level in five months, following reports that the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) was investigating a Boeing engineer's report on safety issues with the 787 Dreamplane. The whistleblower claimed that the various parts of the 787 fuselage were not properly fixed together, and over time, this issue may weaken the aircraft's performance. In addition, the maintenance and testing of the aircraft also took the wrong approach. Boeing responded that the statement regarding the structural integrity of the 787 is inaccurate. The lawyer for whistleblower Sam Salehpur stated that Boeing showed significant errors in the company's quality control process when resolving the repair work for the 787. According to the letter to the FAA manager, Salehpur mentioned issues including taking shortcuts during the engineering and testing phases.
