特朗普在X平台称，“任何共和党参议员要想获得梦寐以求的美国参议院领袖职位，都必须同意（参议院内的）休会期间任命，否则我们将无法及时确认人选。有时投票可能需要两年甚至更长的时间。四年前他们就是这样做的，我们不能让这种情况再次发生。我们需要立即填补职位！此外，在此期间不应批准任何法官，因为民主党希望在共和党争夺领导权时通过他们的法官。这是不可接受的。”
