Preliminary results from the U.S. General Election exit poll by pollster Edison Research show that 71% of voters are white, up from 67% in the 2020 exit poll; 11% are black, down from 13% in 2020; and 12% are Hispanic, down from 13% in 2020. 57% of voters do not have a college degree, compared to 59% in the 2020 exit poll. 45% of voters say their personal financial situation is worse than it was four years ago, compared to 20% in the 2020 exit poll. 39% of voters believe that most undocumented immigrants should be deported, and 57% support allowing them to apply for legal status. 32% of voters think U.S. support for Israel is too strong; 31% think it is not strong enough; and 31% think it is moderate. Fifty-one percent of voters say they trust Harris more on abortion, while 44 percent trust Trump. Fifty-one percent of voters say they trust Trump more on the economy, while 47 percent trust Harris. Seventy-three percent of voters say democracy is under threat, and 25 percent think democracy is safe. Forty-four percent of voters have a positive view of Trump, compared to 46 percent in the 2020 exit poll. Forty-eight percent of voters have a positive view of Harris, compared to 52 percent of Biden in the 2020 poll.
