Twenty U.S. states are sending National Guard troops to ensure election security

Twenty states, including Washington, D.C., have sent National Guard troops to provide election support, according to NBC News. There are currently about 350 guards on active duty or in readiness. These units are primarily responsible for cyber security, law enforcement and general support, and participation is expected to continue to increase to ensure the smooth running of the election.
