Ethena posted that in October 2024, the Ethena team discovered and quickly thwarted a social engineering attack that attempted to compromise its X account. The attackers' tactics included sophisticated identity forgery and social engineering of X platform employees to circumvent standard security measures, including two-factor authentication (2FA). Ethena immediately responded and coordinated with the X platform, support team, to prevent unauthorized changes and secure the account from future attacks.
